How to Stop Hating Valentine’s Day (and Maybe Use it to Your Advantage)
Excuse 5: Valentine’s Day dates are boring.
First off, going out to dinner for Valentine’s Day is no different than a dinner date on any other night. If you find this boring, it may be the company you’re keeping and not the specific day on the calendar. But that’s another issue entirely. Still, if you are looking for something a little outside the box, there are tons of fun and creative ideas and events around town.
Old Town Temecula Theater Community Theater
42051 Main Street, Old Town Temecula
(866) 653-8696 or www.temeculatheater.org
If you haven’t had the chance to see one of the stellar entertainment opportunities held at the theater on a regular basis, Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to add a little bit of culture to your cupid. Valentine’s week, the theater will be hosting the new musical “The Addams Family,” based on the classic television show as well as “Speak Easy at the Merc,” on February 14th; a monthly series highlighting jazz music of the twenties through the forties in the intimate (and romantic) 48-seat Merc theater.

Pechanga Resort & Casino
4500 Pechanga Parkway, Temecula
Reservations (877) 711-2WIN or www.Pechanga.com/dining
Why not spend Valentine’s Day gambling on the future of your relationship? (GAMING! Gaming. I always forget that they want you to call it gaming.) Seriously though, it doesn’t get less boring than Pechanga on Valentine’s Day.
The highlight of Pechanga’s numerous dining options include the Great Oak Steakhouse, which will be hosting a three-course prix fixe menu including roasted beet and arugula salad, surf and turf entrée with lobster tail and petit filet mignon and strawberry shortcake for dessert for $65 per person. Reservations strongly recommended for this elegant event.
(I love the photo of Great Oak Steakhouse on the right because the guy is totally not even looking in the girl’s direction.)
All of the other great dining locations inside Pechanga will also have special Valentine’s menu items as well as decadent desserts.
Finish the evening with a “Romeo and Juliet” martini at Pechanga’s popular Cabaret Lounge or by shaking your booty at the Eagle’s Nest dance club. And don’t forget to roll the dice on love, a la Monica and Chandler, in Pechanga’s casino.
