On a warm summer’s eve, on a train bound for nowhere, the hero of country music legend Kenny Rogers’ epic musical narrative, “The Gambler,” met a drifter who taught him the meaning of life and the rules you have to follow to get by in his world. For Rogers himself, personal fulfillment is not about knowing when to hold ‘em or when to fold ‘em.

Having just been added as the opening act for country superstars Sara Evans and Martina McBride, Temecula Road has reached the kind of success many new acts take years to achieve, almost overnight. But that skyrocketing success has seen its consequences for three performers so young.

Broadway musicals have had an array of subjects ranging from gang wars to alley cats to man-eating alien plants. Chess the Musical takes a two-person intellect driven board game and uses it as the backdrop for drama, rock music and romance.

As her own songwriter, manager and booking agent, vocalist Alaina Blair may be the hardest working artist for the new music generation. Performing at several venues in Temecula through the end of the year, including Lorimar Winery, Miramonte Winery and Public House, Blair is a Southern California native yet a country girl at heart.

The Old Town Temecula Community Theater’s new season’s schedule includes new additions as well as returning favorites from resident companies. Popular performance series’ including classical, dance, groove, legends, Hawaiian, big band and many others are back this year with exciting new guest performers and shows.

The success of platinum-selling saxophonist Dave Koz is idolized by musicians all over the world; inspired to follow their artistic dreams through his music. Despite a career that is fast approaching legendary status, Koz still remembers the immortal words of the one who first inspired him.

The returning seasonal favorite, the City of Temecula’s Hot Summer Nights, always signals that summer is in full swing, with live entertainment taking over some of Old Town’s most popular locales on Friday nights through August 26th.

This summer, the weekend entertainment starts a few days early with the return of the City of Temecula Community Services Department’s annual Summer Sunset Concert Series, every Thursday evening in June and July.

Thornton Winery’s annual Champagne Jazz Series is a widely popular Temecula wine country tradition; offering musical lovers a chance to see some of the biggest names in the jazz genre in an intimate and beautiful setting. Now in its 28th year, the Champagne Jazz Series began as a way for the winery to gain recognition as not only a producer of fine wine, but also an entertainment and nightlife destination.

For the fourth year in a row, the City of Temecula Community Services Department and the Temecula Valley Symphony (formerly the Inland Valley Symphony) are teaming up to show their gratitude to the men and women of the armed forces with the City’s annual Patriotic Salute to Veterans, this Wednesday, November 11th at 6:00 pm, in the outdoor quad in front of the Civic Center in Old Town.
