Pop Some Popcorn! Time for Saturday Night Movie Classics
People may say hooray for Hollywood but I say, hooray for Temecula because a little taste of tinseltown’s best will be featured in Old Town, with the City of Temecula’s Saturday Night Movie Classics.
On three Saturdays in August, Town Square Park in front of City Hall becomes THE place for summer entertainment. On each chosen night, live music begins at 7:00 pm, with the films beginning roughly at dusk. So grab blankets, chairs and a picnic dinner from one of Old Town’s awesome eateries and enjoy one of the films deemed “classics” by the Motion Picture Association of America.
August 1: Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo will leave you spinning! Musical entertainment will be Gene Perry performing the Chapman Stick (I don’t know what that means, either. It says it on the website.)
August 15: Enjoy the antics of bumbling Detective Clouseau in The Pink Panther (the original from 1963, not the terrible remake with Steve Martin) and music by the David Rosales Band.
August 29th: The 1977 classic that inspired a nationwide dance craze – Saturday Night Fever, gets jiggy wit’ it, complete with a DJ and the Temecula Dance Company teaching the crowd to disco!
Though the family films featured in the city’s Friday night line up in July were fine for all ages, these films are more suitable for mature audiences and viewer discretion is advised. So, if you don’t want your children watching John Travolta pick up chicks with his gyrating hips, best make it a date night for adults only.
