Gloriana Headlines Opening Night of the Balloon and Wine Festival
“After we got signed, we released ‘Wild at Heart’ and it just sort of took off from there,” Mike Gossin said in a recent phone interview. “The rest is history.”
In just six short years, Gloriana has taken the country world by storm. With numerous awards, band member changes (a fourth vocalist, Cheyenne Kimball, left the group in 2011) and a third album about to drop, Gossin reflects on how the upcoming release will show how the group has really come into their own.
“You’re going to see a lot of growth in this record,” he said. “We really developed, as far as the maturity, but still stayed true to that original harmony of the fun, summer, country vibe that we had in the first record. We’re really proud of it and we’re counting down the days until it hits.”
The third album, due for release June 2nd, is simply titled “Three.” After writing over 100 songs in the span of three years, the trio whittled down their choices to the eleven high-quality tracks they felt were most worthy of their devoted fan base.
“When writing, we pulled from our real life experiences,” Gossin said. “Whether its things we go through together on the road or in our personal lives with loved ones and relationships, we love it when people can relate to our stuff. As a songwriter, it’s definitely the most rewarding feeling in the world to have someone say, ‘Hey man, that song, it happened to me, too.’ That’s definitely the goal we set out to achieve.”
When they headline the main stage on opening night of the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival on Friday, May 29th, the members of Gloriana look forward to returning to a venue they remember fondly.
“We’ve done the Balloon and Wine Festival before and it was one of my favorite shows we did on the west coast. I remember hanging out all day, watching the balloons and watching the other bands. It’s a great time,” Gossin said.
Whether you’re a fan of their music or just experiencing them for the first time, Gloriana will be giving it their all for the festival audience.
“You’re going to see a lot of energy and a feel-good, fun show where we get the crowd involved,” Gossin said. “Obviously we’re all about the harmonies we’re known for but you’ll also hear some goofy jokes and stories. We really want to be entertaining, first and foremost. We want people to walk away and think ‘Wow, not only do they sing and play well and have a lot of good songs, but I really got my money’s worth.’”
But the question is, will Gossin and his bandmates be partaking in the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival’s most popular of activities?
“I will definitely be taking my vitamin G and the G stands for grapes,” Gossin joked. “We’re looking forward to the Balloon and Wine Festival and the wine will definitely be flowing. Come out and see us because it’s going to be a great day.”
