The 5th Annual Taste of Temecula Valley Takes a Bite Out of Old Town
The yearly event provides guests the chance to sample some of the valley’s best food and beverage locations, all in one convenient fair-like atmosphere. Food or drink samples are only $2 each, allowing visitors to try a bit of everything and purchase more of their favorites.
“One of the main purposes of our event is to bring diverse local and area restaurants, wineries, and microbreweries together in one place for folks to browse and sample. We pride ourselves on unique taste experiences,” Mark Katan, TOTV Chair said. “Many of our vendors took a leap of faith with us the first year and are back for a fifth year. It’s great exposure for them and we have many tell us that they see an uptick in foot traffic because of the exposure they received at the TOTV.”
The fun begins on Friday, April 24th for a preview night, including several food and beverage vendors as well as a full night of live entertainment, ending with a concert by hometown favorite Lee Koch. A new VIP Dining Experience is also available on Friday night, which includes front-row concert seating and the best of exclusive menu offerings from Executive Chef Duane Owen and the chefs of Pechanga Resort restaurants.
Saturday is TOTV Family Fun Day, with expanded children’s activities to meet the demand of a community full of kids.
“One of the things we heard from exit interviews is folks want even more entertainment for kids,” Katan said. “So, starting with the Jolly Express trackless train to the toddler play yard and giant inflatable slides, jumps, and bounce houses, we have something to appeal to all ages. New this year, we have laser tag for older kids, along with pony rides, petting zoo, and lots of kid-friendly food.”
Also new to this year’s TOTV is a drawing for gift baskets which have been donated by various local schools in our district as well as some other special giveaways and surprises throughout the day.
If it sounds to you like the TOTV is an event for the kids, you’d be absolutely right. All proceeds for the two-day food fair will benefit the Temecula Education Foundation; a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding the services and opportunities for schools in the Temecula Unified School District.
“We pride ourselves on providing grants for items that supplement the curriculum and make learning experiential and fun,” Katan said. “When you buy an admission ticket, the proceeds go to support students. When you buy taste tickets, proceeds go to benefit students. When you attend and spend the day with friends listening to music and seeing some fantastic performances, it helps out students. With fundraisers like the TOTV, we have been able to donate more than $80,000 to support the arts, sciences, and technology in TVUSD classrooms.”
