City of Temecula Special Games Celebrates Seven Years of Cheers

Event Details:

  • What: Special Games
  • When: Saturday, April 25, 2015
    9:30a - 1pm
  • Where: Great Oak High School
Elite athletes all over the world have dedicated their lives to achieving the ultimate goal of making it to the Olympics; the chance to represent their country amongst the highest caliber of competition. But now, some very special members of the Temecula community don’t have to wait four years for their chance to be their best.

The representatives and employees of the City of Temecula always go out of their way to make sure all residents of their hometown are given opportunities to learn, play and have fun. The City of Temecula’s 7th Annual Special Games gives athletes with developmental disabilities the chance to really shine.

On Saturday, April 25th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm at Great Oak High School, Special Games athletes will participate in their own Olympics-style opening ceremonies, non-competitive games and sporting events and sponsored lunch.

As a grand finale of this wonderful afternoon of sunshine and sports, each athlete has the chance to be applauded at the Special Games closing ceremonies. Every single one of them will be lauded as the winner they truly are.

To register an athlete or to volunteer, visit temeculaevents.org/specialgames/. Hurry because the deadlines are Tuesday, April 21st for volunteers and Wednesday, April 22nd for athletes!

Even if you don’t personally know any of the athletes and can’t commit to a volunteer opportunity, you can still come out to the City of Temecula’s 7th Annual Special Games to offer your support with a simple cheer, a smile or a high five!
