For the past six years, The Oak Grove Center’s annual benefit concert has funded their students’ love of the arts. For this year’s seventh installment, the event is now so big that it’s literally tripled in size since inception.

The Oak Grove Center for Education Treatment and the Arts is a non-profit educational facility as well as residential center for children who are at risk or have various developmental issues. Formerly billed as “Temecula Live,” 100% of Oak Grove’s “Rock the Oaks” concerts will benefit the exemplary arts programs at both their Temecula and Perris campuses. The Oak Grove arts programs include the performing arts, a rock band, all types of dance and the spoken word and past concerts have helped Oak Grove build their new gym in which the arts programs are housed.

“Rock the Oaks” brings together dozens of performers in several genres including rock, pop, country and Christian. Concerts will include over sixty local and regional musical artists and bands performing live. Just a few of the acts slated to perform at the shows include continual Oak Grove advocates, The Brewer Boys (“X-Factor USA,” “Next Great Family Band”), Noah Turner with Erik Turner of Warrant, Trevor Moran (“X-Factor,” Our2ndLife) and San Francisco-based Irish band, The Shams.

“We are an original alternative/ Indie rock band that is heavily influenced by our Irish roots. We provide listeners with a new, hard-hitting perspective on the evolution of Irish music,” Sean Daly of The Shams said, during a recent interview. “We are a highly energetic band and our fans are usually drenched in sweat before the end of the first set. We put our all into our performances and are very interactive with the folks in the audience.”

Daly and his band mates are especially honored to participate in an event with such a worthy beneficiary.

“We really wanted to be a part of ‘Rock the Oaks’ as we’re huge supporters of the autism community and what better way to be involved then to perform for a program that nourishes and encourages self-expression through art,” Daly said. “As people who tend to struggle with communication, art gives children on the autism spectrum a powerful means to channel their inner life and experiences. Creative self-expression in all forms, whether it is visual art or music, is key to enhancing anyone’s well-being and it’s something that we advocate strongly.  We’re looking forward to rocking the stage for such a great cause.”

With so many artists willing to participate, “Rock the Oaks,” is divided into three separate shows. The trio of concerts will take place at “The Bridge” Church in Murrieta this Friday and Saturday evenings, with a matinee on Saturday afternoon.

Each show’s individual line up as well as location and ticket information can be found on the benefit’s website at www.rocktheoaks.org. Whether you are looking to support a good cause or just an afternoon or evening of family-friendly entertainment, “Rock the Oaks” fits the bill for philanthropists and music lovers alike.
