The Old Town Temecula Community Theater recently received a months-long renovation; transforming what was already the jewel in the city’s cultural crown into a state-of-the-art technological venue. To premiere the enhancements long-awaited by their loyal audience, the theater has chosen a nine-time Tony Award winner to debut their new look – the musical stage and screen classic, Fiddler on the Roof.

Presented in Temecula by OTTCT resident company, the Temecula Valley Players, Fiddler on the Roof was first performed on Broadway in 1964, only to be revived numerous times on stage as well as in film; receiving critical acclaim and numerous of awards and accolades.

Set in Imperial Russia in 1905, Fiddler on the Roof is the story of Tevye, the Jewish father of five daughters; the eldest challenging their patriarch’s culture and tradition by wanting to marry for love. Tevye must try to keep his family intact while dealing with the Tsar’s decree to evict the Jews from his village.

With music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, Fiddler on the Roof includes such popular musical numbers as “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”

Fiddler on the Roof dances into the newly spruced Old Town Temecula Community Theater now through September 27th. For tickets and information, visit www.temeculatheater.org.
