The Seals Are Back! Skating Rink Returns to Old Town

Event Details:

  • What: Temecula on Ice
  • When: December 11 - January 4
  • Where: City Hall

It just isn’t Christmas until you see Snoopy and the Peanuts gang skating around to the song “Christmas Time Is Here,” and now you and your family can recreate this iconic winter scene as the Temecula on Ice Skating Rink returns to Old Town this week.

Temecula on Ice features a state-of-the-art skating rink, comfortable skates (not the old-school ones that give you blisters!), the “Bobby” skating aide, which are those seal things everyone was pushing around the ice last year, and even its own radio station playing the best mix of holiday tunes and pop favorites.

The fun begins with a special Family Skating Night event, hosted by the City of Temecula’s awesome Community Services Department, on Thursday, December 11th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Pre-registration is required for this event.

The rink’s official grand opening will be Friday, December 12th, with a special opening day celebration at 5:00 pm, complete with skating demonstrations, “Bobby” races and skating with the Mayor. (Sidebar: If you don’t already think Temecula is great, how many other cities give you a chance to skate with the mayor?)

For the teens and young adults, special late night sessions will be held on Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 to 11:30 pm. Let’s just hope they don’t do any couples-only skates, because any of us who grew up in eighties roller rinks know how traumatic those can be.

The rink is open daily from opening day until January 4th, including Christmas and New Year’s Day, with a special New Year’s Eve Grape Drop Skating Session on December 31st, where you can enjoy the city’s immensely popular end of the year celebration from the comfort of the ice.

Session times and dates vary so visit the City of Temecula’s events website at www.temeculaevents.org for more information, as well as the chance to pre-register for the Family Ice Skating Night.

So strap on your blades, pull up your mittens and fasten your helmet (if necessary) and head down to Old Town’s Temecula on Ice Skating Rink for some chilly family fun!
