The holiday season is in full swing and two of Temecula’s most popular twinkling traditions light up the city with yuletide cheer this week, with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Duck Pond on Thursday and Santa’s Electric Light Parade through Old Town on Friday night.

“Temecula is growing into a big city but we still cherish the home town events that make Temecula special, especially during the holidays,” Dawn Adamiak, Recreation Supervisor for the City of Temecula said.

With the recent renovations and new artistic pieces, the Temecula Duck Pond is even more special and, with the 17th annual lighting of the Christmas tree, it once again becomes a shining centerpiece for which residents and guests wait for every year.

Beginning at 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 4th, this year’s tree lighting ceremony includes holiday treats, Christmas carol performances by Resonate! Vocal Group and even a visit from the jolly one himself, Santa Claus.

The evening is expertly coordinated by the City of Temecula’s Community Services Department and the evening’s Master of Ceremonies will be City Manager Aaron Adams. It is definitely a magical event sure to light up the season.

Then, as if the City of Temecula’s Christmas Tree Lighting isn’t enough merriment for one week, the immensely popular Santa’s Electric Light Parade, now in its 22nd year, dances through Old Town on Friday night; spreading holiday cheer down Front Street.

The culmination of the City of Temecula’s “25 Days of Fun” Silver Anniversary Celebration, the visual and musical spectacle of lights once again makes it way from the starting point at the intersection of Del Rio and Jefferson Avenue, through Old Town, and ending at the corner of Santiago and Old Town Front Street.

Parade participants have been asked to incorporate the theme of “Silver Bells,” into their entry; as the parade is the grand finale of the city’s anniversary events. This year’s lineup is an exciting mix of city organizations like the police and fire departments, city officials, schools, scout troops, sports teams and local businesses; all sure to be decked out in their holiday finest.

Santa’s Electric Light Parade kicks off at 7:00 pm but arrive early to grab the best seat along the parade route.
