Special Needs Park *Ribbon Cutting Date Announced*

One of the greatest things about the City of Temecula is that there seems to be a fantastic park or playground on just about every corner. City officials definitely know the role parks play in children’s lives and they want every child in the community to be able to participate in the fun in a creative as well as safe environment. To help every child get involved, the City will be cutting the ribbon on the new Special Needs Playground and Splash Pad later this month.

According to Mayor Jeff Comerchero and Councilmen Michael Naggar, “This is a well-thought-out playground that includes equipment, materials and designs so that children of all abilities have the same play opportunities and can navigate the playground with ease.”

The much anticipated special needs playground and splash pad is located at Margarita Park, 29119 Margarita Road, and is sure to provide hours of enjoyment and memories but, before it can become an official destination for the community’s youngest residents, the park needs its own identity.

This is where you come in. The community is invited to submit their ideas for a name for the new park. Suggestions can be no longer than seven words and cannot be named after a person, place or organization.

All proposals should be submitted by Friday, February 6th. The winner of the contest will be chosen by Friday, February 13th and announced at the upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 23rd from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.

Please submit your proposal in the form of an email to: Candice Adkisson Flohr at Candice.Adkisson@cityoftemecula.org. Include your name, a contact phone number, and email address.

For more information, please contact the Temecula Community Services Department at (951) 694-6480.

For the record, my personal choice for a name would be “Sun and Fun for Everyone” Special Needs Park. (So, don’t steal my intellectual property, ok?)
