Frank the Tank Golf Tournament Provides a Better Life for a Woman with Special Needs
When you hear the name Frank “The Tank,” you may recall Will Ferrell’s streaking fraternity boy in the comedy “Old School,” but Frank “The Tank” Boschma is an actual real life hero.
Boschma, pictured above, suffers from X-linked SMA, Arthrogryposis or SMA type 2 and, in March of last year, community leaders came together and held a charity golf tournament in an effort to purchase him a new TRACK mobility chair. A year later, Boschma is helping to plan his namesake tournament to give another hero the same chance at a new life, just like he was given one year ago.
With the help of Jeff Kurtz, General Manager of the Promenade Temecula and Paradise Chevrolet Cadillac of Temecula, Boschma has teamed up with Boy Scout Troop 90 for the Frank the Tank Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will benefit Marlayna Diaz.
At age six, Diaz’s family’s car was hit by a drunk driver, tragically killing her mother and leaving Diaz a quadriplegic. The proceeds of the Frank the Tank Golf Tournament will help provide Diaz with the specially equipped transportation she needs to live a more fulfilling life and pursue her dreams of higher education.
“It is my honor to help Frank Boschma and Boy Scout Troop 90 plan this golf tournament,” Kurtz said. “Our day of play will raise funds to purchase Marlayna a reliable, specially equipped van that will allow her to continue to make the most of her life, despite her physical limitations. Marlayna is an inspiration to me. Seeing her cheerfulness and optimism reminds me that despite the roadblocks put in front of us, there are people surrounding all of us that will lend a hand to lift you over life’s barriers.”
Registration is going on now for the February 28th tournament, which will take place at Pala Mesa Golf Course at 12:30 pm. The tournament will be shotgun start. The cost is $100 per person, $400 per foursome. To reserve your spot, email your request to [email protected].
The Frank the Tank Golf Tournament is the perfect opportunity to play eighteen holes while bettering one very special life.
