Fireworks and Fun at the City of Temecula’s July 4th Celebration

On Monday, July 4th, America will celebrate its birthday and the City of Temecula Community Services Department is putting on quite a party.

The festivities begin in Old Town with the annual Fourth of July Parade down Front Street. This year’s parade will adopt the theme of Family First, a philosophy around which the Community Services Department designs all of their events and activities.

Beginning at 10:00 am and running from Front Street’s south arch to north arch, the Family First Independence Day Parade will include city officials, community groups, clubs and teams, equestrians, patriotic floats and performers; all decked out in celebratory red, white and blue.

Parking for the parade is available at the Old Town Parking Garage, with access via Mercedes Street until 9:45 am, with additional handicapped parking will be available at the 6th Street parking lot. Please note that Old Town Front Street will be closed from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Following the parade, Temecula residents are invited to continue the party at the annual Family Fun and Fireworks event at Ronald Reagan Sports Park.

The block party atmosphere of the Family Fun and Fireworks includes live music and entertainment beginning at 2:00 pm, including local classic rock group, Bodie the Band. Performing at 4:15 pm, the members of Bodie the Band look forward to sharing the special day with their community.

“Bodie is honored to have been selected to perform for the City of Temecula on one of the nation’s greatest holidays, July 4th,” Scott White of Bodie the Band said. “We hope to bring you a show full of energy and fireworks to celebrate this great day.”

In addition to entertainment, the Family Fun and Fireworks event will include food and drink vendors and a Kid Zone, with inflatable slides and bounce houses, face painting, games, a prize wheel and more.

Though attendance to the event is free, unlimited-use wristbands for the Kid Zone will be available for $5 each; cash only. ATMS will be onsite.

Activities and entertainment for the Family Fun and Fireworks event begin at 2:00 pm, but the park will be open as early as 8:00 am.  The Community Recreation Center pool will be open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for families to cool down as the temperature heats up.

The culmination of the City of Temecula’s full day of 4th of July events is the grand fireworks extravaganza; the official finale of the Family Fun and Fireworks event. Fireworks will begin promptly at 9:00 pm and musical accompaniment will be provided by local radio station, KATY 101.3 FM.

No alcohol or glass containers will be permitted and dogs must be on leashes at the sports park. Though attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and EZ up tents to enjoy the day, no staking, roping off or reserving space will be allowed.

Both the parade and sports park events are extremely popular and can become crowded very quickly so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
