Tickets Now On Sale for Thornton Winery Jazz Concert Series

Thornton Winery’s annual Champagne Jazz Series is a widely popular Temecula wine country tradition; offering musical lovers a chance to see some of the biggest names in the jazz genre in an intimate and beautiful setting.

Now in its 28th year, the Champagne Jazz Series began as a way for the winery to gain recognition as not only a producer of fine wine, but also an entertainment and nightlife destination.

In the concert series’ inception, shows were originally offered for free; featuring mainly local artists and performers. In its current form, the summer-long musical event features award-winning recording artists typically found playing in much larger theaters.

“The customers love the small venue because it is very personable and the performers enjoy playing here,” Tonya Wake, Thornton Winery’s Wine Club and Champagne Jazz Manager said. “They don’t have gates up, like at some of the bigger venues, so they are able to walk right down into the audience.”

This year’s Champagne Jazz Series begins on Saturday, May 28th with funk and R&B artist Jeffrey Osborne. Osborne is known for numerous hits that span four decades, including the 1982 single, “On the Wings of Love.”

The Champagne Jazz Series continues on select nights through October. This year’s lineup includes many returning favorites including Grammy Award-winning Al Jarreau on July 16th, legendary musicians Dave Koz and David Sanborn, appearing together, on July 30th, and a special evening with international superstar Kenny G on August 28th.

On June 11th, four-time Grammy nominee Boney James returns to the Thornton Winery stage; one of his favorite venues to perform.

“We’ve been coming to Temecula for many years and I think that we have a very loyal following, since we’ve sold out for over ten years, I think,” James said. “Thornton Winery is a beautiful place to hear music and there are such nice people there. I really look forward to it every year.”

Ticket prices for the Champagne Jazz Series vary, depending on the show. General admission seating is guaranteed but seat selection is on a first-come, first serve basis. Lines for the more popular shows have formed as early as three hours prior to seating.

For about twice the cost of the general admission tickets, guests can purchase the Gourmet Supper Package, which includes dinner at Thornton Winery’s award-winning Café Champagne and assigned seating on the covered patio for the duration of the show.

Both general admission and Gourmet Supper Packages include a free Champagne Jazz Series commemorative wine glass.

Tickets for some of the more notable names, as well as the Gourmet Supper Packages, sell out very quickly each year, so interested jazz enthusiasts are advised to purchase their seats as soon as possible.
