It is often said that the recently renovated Old Town Temecula Community Theater is the shiniest jewel in our city’s cultural crown and, with offerings ranging from dance to live music to family entertainment, the theater’s line up for the month of November is just as sparkling as ever.

On Saturday, November 7th, the Salt Lake City-based Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company pirouettes onto the stage. Now in their 52nd season, Ririe-Woodbury approaches their performances with the philosophy that “Dance is For Everybody;” striving to not only entertain but to educate their audiences about the artistic medium of dance. They are currently under the Art Direction of Daniel Charon.

On Sunday, November 8th, the Gary Sinise Foundation, together with the City of Temecula, presents the West Coast premiere of “Darkness and Light: A Human Conversation with 11 Wounded Veterans.” This documentary film includes stories and interviews with wounded veterans from all over the country, including Temecula’s own hero, Cpl. Juan Dominguez. Following the film, there will be a cocktail reception and live music by Cpl. Dominguez and his band, Oli Brooklyn. A separate ticket is required for both the film and reception, with all proceeds benefitting the Gary Sinise Foundation, Semper Fi Fund, and Warfighter Made.

From November 13th through November 22nd, the beloved family musical, “Peter Pan,” will have Temecula audiences believing in fairies. Presented by the Temecula Performing Arts Company, “Peter Pan,” tells the story of a young boy who refuses to grow up; battling Captain Hook and saving maidens like Wendy and Tiger Lily in the process. The stage version, fresh from the U.K. with musical score by Piers Chater Robinson, is based on J.M. Barrie’s classic novel.

Don’t plan any vacations to Blue Bayou or Hotel California, because November 20th brings a night of sixties, seventies and eighties classics with “Love is a Rose: A Tribute to Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles.” Female lead Kat Sanders and band will perform acoustic versions of some of these two iconic musical acts best loved hits, cabaret-style, in the intimate Mercantile Theater.

Kick off the holiday season with sugarplum fairies, dancing bears, twirling snowflakes and some territorial mice when the Inland Valley Classical Ballet Theatre presents “The Nutcracker,” from November 27th through the 29th. The world-renowned Christmas ballet favorite is based on Tchaikovsky’s legendary score. It’s a presentation sure to get every member of your family in the holiday spirit!

In addition to the above-mentioned stellar line up, November at the Old Town Temecula Theater complex features all of your favorite “…At the Merc” musical series’, including Classics, Jazz, Comedy, Speak Easy, Country and more!
