Swim into Fall with the City of Temecula’s Pumpkin Plunge

Event Details:

It’s hard to get into the Halloween spirit when it’s still 90 degrees outside, but the City of Temecula has created the perfect way to combine Indian summer weather with autumn fun.

On Friday, October 3rd, the City of Temecula Recreation Department is hosting its annual Pumpkin Plunge where participants of all ages can swim their way to the pumpkin of their choice.

“With warm weather still upon us, what better way to get your pumpkin then diving into the pool and swimming away with one,” Paula Worthington, Senior Recreation Leader for the City of Temecula said.

The Pumpkin Plunge, which takes place at the pool adjacent to the beautiful Temecula Community Recreation Center (CRC), is the last installment of the city’s popular Family Fun Nights, which included events throughout the summer like Circus Night, One Direction Inflection, named for the popular British boy band, and the Build Your Own Boat Regatta.

The Pumpkin Plunge is an entire evening of family fun for a very small price. For only $5.00 per person, participants have the chance to jump into the pool, grab the pumpkin of their liking, and later decorate it. Autumn-themed games and harvest treats will be available for registered swimmers.

Only those intending on taking home a pumpkin are required to register. Members of their family are encouraged to wear their favorite costume and cheer on their family plunger as they splash their way to the perfect jack-o-lantern specimen.

This event does fill up every year, but spaces are still available. Log on to www.cityoftemecula.org to sign up before they are sold out.

The City of Temecula Recreation Department spends all their time imagining fun and educational opportunities for the community and the annual Pumpkin Plunge is a brilliant way to make even the warmest of climates feel like fall.

“Creating events like this is what we do,” Worthington said. “Temecula residents have come to expect nothing less than quality activities and entertainment from us and we are delighted to do it. You are guaranteed great fun at a great value!”

Neat, on 4th of July in my hometown we did a watermelon plunge, teams of 2, watermelons are larded up and thrown into the deep you had to dive down and bring one back up, it was timed! So many fun memories!
