That’s Hot! Summer Sunset Concert Series Returns

This summer, the weekend entertainment starts a few days early with the return of the City of Temecula Community Services Department’s annual Summer Sunset Concert Series, every Thursday evening in June and July.

On stage at the Temecula Amphitheater at the Community Recreation Center, the Summer Sunset Concert Series invites local families to come out for a free night of excellent entertainment while enjoying the warm summer evening air.

Concerts include a number of genres from dance to eighties to Motown. Several of this year’s acts are categorized as tribute bands, which pay homage to a particular performer or band.

On June 30th, Escape: the Journey Tribute, brings not only the music of the band’s Steve Perry-era, but also mimics the band visually, as much as possible, to create a full immersive experience.

“A tribute band embodies the original classic band in their heyday and transports the audience so they feel as though they are experiencing a moment during the height of the band’s career,” Chad Smith, Escape’s lead singer said. “At our shows, we believe that, when you close your eyes, you can feel as though you are back to that era; as if it was all happening again.”

In addition to Escape: the Journey Tribute, the remaining Summer Sunset Concert Series line up includes:

  • June 16: Detroit Underground
  • June 23: David Rosales & His Band of Scoundrels
  • June 30: Escape: the Journey Tribute
  • July 7: We Belong – Pat Benatar Tribute
  • July 14: The Sam Morrison Band
  • July 21: Stone Soul
  • July 28: The Answer Band

Escape: the Journey Tribute are frequent performers in the area, having headlined the City of Temecula’s New Year’s Eve celebration and other events, but they especially look forward to returning to the Summer Sunset Concert Series stage.

“There are a number of reasons we come back each year,” Smith said, “Temecula has great weather and is perfect for outdoor events and the people are some of the friendliest we’ve ever met.”

Those interested in attending the City of Temecula’s Summer Sunset Concert Series are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, blankets and chairs. No alcohol or pets, other than service dogs, will be allowed in the amphitheater.

Gates open at 5:00 pm and the concert will begin at 7:00 pm. Bleacher and lawn seating is on a first come, first serve basis and does fill up fast. Prior to gate opening, a line forms early.
