Promenade Temecula Announces Student Leadership Council

Do you have a lazy teenager who just wants to go to the mall? Well, Promenade Temecula has the perfect way to incorporate motivation and education with their favorite local hang out.

Promenade Temecula has teamed up with California State University San Marcos and Mt. San Jacinto College to launch the Promenade Temecula Leadership Council; a new program that will give Southwest Riverside County university, college and high school students the opportunity to increase their educational advancement opportunities and build career skills through mentorship from business and educational leaders in the community.

The Promenade Temecula Leadership Council will be offered on an annual, two-semester basis, providing participants the opportunity to develop business skills through real-life project experience. Students in the program will engage in leadership roles in research, marketing, event planning, and data analysis for various community projects throughout the semester.

“A primary goal of the new youth leadership council is to help support the decision-making process for students who might be unaware of advanced educational opportunities available to them,” Kym Espinosa, Director of Marketing for Promenade Temecula, said.

The first Promenade Temecula Leadership Council term is currently underway. The council’s inaugural project is the upcoming Teen Expo event in April 2015; an annual event at Promenade Temecula, in partnership with Southwest Healthcare System, that provides families and teens with a platform that promotes safety and provides a fun learning experience through demonstrations about injury prevention for everyday threats like skateboarding, biking and texting while driving.

Members of the current council will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Southwest Healthcare team members on the development of new Teen Expo safety exhibits.

The current Promenade Temecula Leadership Council term will end this May. If you have an interested student in your household whom you think will be a perfect fit for the second semester group, participants will be selected based on student submissions.
