Add a little spice to your life at the City of Temecula’s annual Hatch Chile Festival this weekend in Old Town.

Sponsored by the city’s Community Services Department and Chile Hedz hot sauce store, the Hatch Chile Festival will transform Town Square Park into a spice-lovers dream; roasting and selling over 10,000 pounds of fresh Chile peppers to attendees.

The heat is on, beginning on Saturday, where the Chile roasting will be accompanied by live music from local musicians, mariachi bands and ballet Folkorico dancers. Bring the whole family on Sunday because, while the fires will still be burning under the Chiles and the live music continues, there will also be jumpers and arts and crafts for the kiddos. Keep an eye out for royalty because Sunday also includes the crowning of Mr. and Mrs. Chile Pepper.

All this spiciness making you hungry? Food, drink and hot sauce vendors will be on hand all weekend.

For those looking to bring home the fruits of the festival’s wares, green Chiles will be sold in increments of 10 pounds for $25, 25 pounds for $56 and 50 pounds for $100. Fresh ristras will be on sale for $45. If you were not able to participate in Chile Hedz presale, which ended earlier this month, Chiles will still be available and sold on a first come first serve basis, so arrive early.

The Hatch Chile Festival takes place Saturday, August 30th and Sunday, August 31st from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm at Town Square Park in front of the Civic Center in Old Town. For more information, visit the Temecula Community Services Department website.
